The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), on Monday, collaborated with the women’s organization, Apne Aap Women’s Collective to undertake a vaccination drive. Through the means of this drive, female sex workers in Mumbai’s Kamathipura area were inoculated.
Based on the post shared by the authority on social media, 132 women benefited from this exemplary initiative undertaken by the civic authority.

Apart from this, last week reports elaborated that the BMC nearly 97 per cent of those eligible which are 86,29,807 individuals in the island city have attained one jab of the COVID-19 vaccine. Following this, on October 21, the civic authority proclaimed that it is undertaking steps to ensure that 100 per cent of the adult population be vaccinated prior to Diwali.
Additionally, with educational establishments opening their doors to the students, Aaditya Thackeray proclaimed the “Mission Yuva Swasth” program to drive inoculation amongst college-going students.
The BMC, alongside other authorities, has constantly been advocating COVID-19 appropriate protocol amongst the citizens. With reports citing that the civic authority has managed to accumulate total penalties of INR 77.37 cr so far from those who haven’t been adhering to the requisite protocols. In the same period, the Mumbai Police too collected INR 12.70 cr.
