Mumbaikars love their beaches and often choose to spend a quality time there with friends and family. On one hand, where the activists and NGOs are working together to keep them clean, associations and the corporation on the other are attempting to beautify these beaches to make it citizen-friendly.
One of the most frequently visited and crowded beach in Juhu was also lit-up a few years back and the corporation now plans to do the same with the beach in Mahim.
Keeping the recent discussions and development in mind, it is said that the team at BMC is keen to develop a kilometer of Mahim beach with a play area for children, exercise equipment and a watchtower. The proposed timeline for the project is six months and the cost for the same is expected to be around ₹1.4 crores. Officials expect that the move will attract more people to the beach on a regular basis.
However, many have expressed their disapproval stating concerns about light pollution, and health conditions related to vision.
