Mumbai - The proposal for converting the Mayor's bungalow into Bal Thackeray memorial has been passed on Monday without any kind of discussion in presence of BMC corporators. None of the Bharatiya Janta Party leaders were present in the discussion.

The proposal had already received a green signal from the civic improvements committee on 11 January 2017. In fact on the morning of 11 January a few hours before the code of conduct could be announced a meeting had been called by the civic improvements committee to give the proposal a nod. As per the proposal the Mayor bungalow plot, which is approximately 11,500 sqm meters would be handed over to the members for the trust that will be entrusted with the upkeep of the memorial of late party chief Bal Thackeray.

Present at the moment were MP Rahul Shewale, Shiv Sena secretary Anil Desai, and MLA Sunil Prabhu. The plot is being handed over to the trust at a rent of Re 1 per annum.
