In order to solve the hawker problems in Mumbai, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) is all set to set up Food Trucks that will be open 24*7. However, this move will come up with many challenges. The food truck will be set up at commercial areas like Bandra Kurla Complex, Andheri, Fort etc. and the authorities will have to ensure that there will be no traffic or road congestion problems.

The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation will soon send the draft for approval. BMC's health department will ensure that the hygiene standards are maintained and take into consideration the type of food that will be served before providing the license to the food truck. It will also allow multiple food trucks at one location.
An official from the health department stated that the authorities are currently scrutinising the feasibility of allowing food trucks that will run 24*7. They will further ensure that the food trucks will be fire complaint. Notably, Samajwadi Party had demanded a 24*7 Food Truck four years ago to be operated in Mumbai to the former Municipal Commissioner Ajoy Mehta.
