BMC to build seven new bridges in Kandivali and Dahisar

The project by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) will be initiated at a cost of ₹117 crore consisting of six bridges and one skywalk

The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) is planning to demolish and rebuild seven bridges at Dahisar and Borivali. This consists of six bridges along with a skywalk. Earlier, the residents had demanded that the skywalk in Dahisar must be demolished as it is not being used. So now the civic body will construct the new skywalk from Kandivali's Shatabdi Hospital to Borsapada, Sanghvi Road. 

The skywalk will be constructed at a cost of ₹329 crore by the BMC and will be an 825 metre-long construction.

Meanwhile, the municipal corporation will be shutting down six bridges in Dahisar and Borivali as they are in weary condition and dangerous for public use. The Dhankawadi nullah has been widened due to Mumbai rains and as a precautionary measure, the civic body will combine four nearby bridges and build one. 

Alongside, they will also construct bridges at Rustomjee School and Anand Nagar, Dahisar River for the convenience of the people. ₹117 crore have been allotted for the same.
