The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) will now impose a fine for speeding on the Ghatkopar-Mankhurd Link Road flyover in Mumbai.


The Municipal Corporation has taken this decision to prevent increasing accidents. For this, 'Speed Violation Detection System' will be installed on the flyover at a cost of INR 50 lakh. The speed limit of speeding vehicles will be checked due to the cameras installed on the flyover through this system. If the speed limit is exceeded, fines will be imposed by the traffic police.

The Ghatkopar-Mankhurd link road has been constructed for vehicles going from Ghatkopar to Vashi, Navi Mumbai. Meanwhile, the bridge will help decongest the Eastern Expressway, the Santacruz-Chembur Expressway and the Eastern Freeway.


Closed for heavy vehicles and two-wheelers

The civic body is going to install speed violation detectors on Ghatkopar-Mankhurd Link Road flyover. The Speed Violation Detection System will be integrated with the existing central control software to track speed violations at the traffic police headquarters. So the speed of vehicles can be controlled. The flyover is closed for heavy vehicles and two-wheelers as it is prone to accidents.
