According to the latest reports, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) is looking to construct an underground storage tank to prevent waterlogging at Andheri's Milan Subway. This will reportedly be similar to that being made at Hindmata.

Based on accounts, the civic authority will incur expenses worth INR 33 crore on the project with a deadline of May 2023. It has been reported that the civic body, last year commenced the construction of underground tanks in Dadar's Pramod Mahajan Udyan as well as Parel's St Xavier's Ground. The BMC has reportedly incurred expenses worth INR 160 crore already, cited narratives.

Officials have remarked in reports that a third of two tanks' capacity has been readied, with the remaining anticipated to be ready soon. The official added that the tanks can hold water during a heavy spell of 70-80 mm for an hour and a half, mentioned narratives.

Mumbai's Milan subway is a chronic flood spot and civic officials believe that the underground tank will offer relief from waterlogging. The tank, according to the civic official will have a capacity of 20,000 cubic meters connected with disposal pipelines, remarked accounts.

Narratives have quoted the official elaborating on how the plot's surface portion can be utilized once the tank is completed. On the other hand, the BJP has alleged a scam in the underground water storage tanks since the BMC had awarded the work without tenders.
