After garnering success at the box-office and creating awareness regarding menstrual hygiene through PadMan, Bollywood’s Khiladi actor Akshay Kumar installed one of its first-kind of sanitary pad vending machine at Mumbai Central-ST Bus Depot on February 15, 2018, in the presence of Yuva Sena chief Aaditya Thackeray.
Though the programme was scheduled to start at 4:30 pm, Akshay Kumar and other dignitaries arrived around 5:45 pm upsetting the fans who were waiting to see the glimpse of their favourite actor.Placed a sanitary pad vending machine at Mumbai Central ST Bus Depot today, hoping to place more across the State and eventually hopefully the whole country. “One has to deposit four coins of ₹5 or else two coins of ₹10 and then press the red button for the packet of sanitary napkins which will have three napkins in it,” Maharashtra ST Karmachari Congress Shrirang Barge.
Mumbai Central-ST bus depot in total has 12 women employees and this move will help them during emergency situations, expressed Kumar. The machine has been installed by Khushi NGO.
