Metro 3 work at Cuffe Parade is under scrutiny by the Bombay High Court that has asked the authorities to go by the noise norms at night and not breach the decibel levels, on Friday.

A bench of Justices Abhay Oka and Riyaz Chagla asked for an assurance that the MMRC will abide by the noise rules during wee hours.

Mumbai Metro Rail Corporation (MMRC) had appealed to the High Court to modify the August 2017 order which restrained them from working between 10:00 PM to 6:00 AM. MMRC has to transport parts of a tunnel boring machine to the Cuffe Parade site. The assembly of the machine will take 40-45 days and boring around eight months.

Advocate general Ashutosh Kumbhakoni said that other than the movement of truck and loading of soil, the boring work will not create any noise. The MMRC asserts that the decibel level will not be more than what it is today without the Metro, though they did not make a statement.
