In order to pay respects and mourn the death of the legendary singer Lata Mangeshkar, the Bombay High Court (HC) has suspended all its judicial proceedings at all its benches today, February 7.

As per an official statement, Subordinate Courts in Maharashtra, South and North Goa, Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu and Silvassa shall remain closed on Monday, February 7.

Moreover, the Maharashtra government has declared February 7 as a public holiday to mourn her demise.

The Centre has also announced two-day national mourning in memory of the iconic singer. As a mark of respect to Mangeshkar, a Bharat Ratna, the National Flag will fly at half-mast from February 6 to 7 throughout India.

For those unversed, Lata Mangeshkar passed away on Sunday morning, February 6, due to multiple organ failure at the Breach Candy Hospital in Mumbai. She was admitted to the hospital in early January after she was diagnosed with coronavirus disease and pneumonia.

Her last rites were performed on Sunday evening, February 6, at Shivaji Park in Dadar. Several celebrities attended her funeral including actor Shah Rukh Khan, actor Ranbir Kapoor, actor Aamir Khan, actor Shraddha Kapoor, cricketer Sachin Tendulkar, singer Anuradha Podwal, musician Shankar Mahadevan, actor Vidya Balan and her husband and producer Siddharth Roy Kapur.

Meanwhile, politicians across parties including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Maharashtra CM Uddhav Thackeray, Raj Thackeray, Devendra Fadnavis among others had also attended.
