Borivali – Officers of revenue department have locked up two gates of Borivali’s Mangal Kunj building citing non-payment of taxes.
This is creating problem to 59 shop keepers and 200 residents who are facing problem to enter the building. Not only this, notice has also been served which states that members should pay tax in 48 hours. Residents complained that when they go to revenue office for more details they are made to run from pillar to post. “We are asked to pay assessment tax. But our chairman said that we have paid OC and CC, so we are not supposed to pay the tax. On the same time, revenue officers have asked us to go to BMC and pay the tax. We are clueless and facing losses,” said Dhiren Gujjar, shopkeeper. Another shopkeeper second Dhiren adding that small gate is kept open but still they are facing losses as customers are finding it difficult to enter.
When Mumbai Live tried speaking to revenue officer Archana Mule, the latter was not available in the office.
