The Navghar police made the arrest of a 39-year-old Mira Bhayandar Municipal Transport (MBMT) bus driver on Wednesday for causing the death of a 58-year-old woman in Bhayandar East. The incident took place around 11.30 am on July 17.
When Durga Devi Bisht was crossing the road with her husband, the bus driver knocked her down and she came under the front tire. Along with this, the bus also hit two stationary auto-rickshaws. Her husband sustained minor injuries. The woman was rushed to a nearby hospital where she was declared dead on arrival.

Irate citizens damaged the bus windows, demanding strict punishment for driver Bhimrao Kadam and action against the contractual agency. Kadam was charged with rash and negligent driving causing death, and further investigations are underway.
