Mumbai: Car discovered floating in Vasai beach

On Wednesday, a car was spotted floating in the sea at Bhuigaon beach in Vasai by the local fishermen.

As per reports, on Wednesday, December 30, a vacant car was found floating in the sea at Bhuigaon beach in Vasai in the wee hours.

During a high tide, the vehicle is likely to have drifted away from the Kalamb. Moreover, two constables from the Vasaigaon police station discovered the Maruti Swift car floating in the sea around 500 meters away from the beach. Only the roof of the car was visible, however, after a closer look at the vehicle, it was witnessed that no one was trapped inside the car. Local fishermen were roped in to help pull out the car who stated that there was high tide at around 10.30 pm. According to a report in Mid-day, the identity of the car owner is from Bhuigaon.

The report further adds a few people had gathered on Kalamb beach for a New Year party. However, one of the cars got stuck in the sand and then there was high tide. While the youths tried to pull the car out but their efforts were not successful.

On Wednesday morning, the authorities were trying to pull the car out but even their efforts were not proving to be as fruitful.

Currently, there is curfew has been imposed between 11 pm to 6 am in the Vasai Virar region due to the pandemic. In addition, to control the crowd ahead of the New Year, visiting beaches have been banned in the area. However, some shacks have been hosting New Year parties illegally.

Before the outbreak of the coronavirus, Christmas and New Year celebrations would go on until 5 AM the next day. However, given the restrictions in place, the festivities are expected to be somewhat lukewarm this year.
