In a bid to give impetus to cleanliness for Central Railway's trains, the authorities have now rolled out a mobile application- Sajha Prayas Aapka aur Rail ka (SPARK) that will monitor the work of On-Board Housekeeping Staff (OBHS) on a real-time basis. In the initial stage, the application has been provided in 42 Central Railway trains in Mumbai division.

Further, the application allows the passenger to register a complaint online wherein he has to provide the details of his train and coach number. Once the complaint is submitted, the On-Board Housekeeping Staff (OBHS) has to take action on it within 30 minutes. Failure to do so will result in the complaint being sent to the respective railway officer. All of this will be monitored by the railway's control centre.

Previously, all the feedback was collected through a feedback form which has now been changed to providing tablets to every commuter where he can record his feedback. Each response will be unique as it will be linked to a PNR number and can be submitted only on getting an OTP code. This will ensure that the feedback is not being tampered with.

Moreover, the On-Board Housekeeping Staff (OBHS) will also have to click pictures of their work from the application. Formerly, it was difficult to verify their work but now if they click a picture from the app it will also show the time and location. Chief Public Relation Officer of Central Railway Shivaji Sutar stated that they aim to serve their passengers better through the use of this new system. They will have the system in all trains of Mumbai Division within a month.
