The authorities have closed the bridge for pedestrian access, however, the time period for the bridge being non-functional is not yet known.

A portion of the staircase on the south end Foot Over Bridge had collapsed on October 14, 2017 and reconstruction of that bridge is yet to be completed. This FOB connects Charni Road station to Thakurdwar in Girgaum and Babasaheb Jaykar Marg.

Notably, the Marine Lines FOB is also under construction and is expected to be open for public access in 18 months.
