A special court has sentenced the 38-year-old accused to life imprisonment in connection with the allegation of sexually abusing the four-year-old daughter of a prostitute who went out for work in 2020 during the Corona period.

The court while sentencing the accused to life imprisonment under the Prevention of Sexual Offences on Children Act (POCSO) also remarked that the message needs to be sent to the society that the childhood of the children of prostituted women is also valuable and they too have the right to live with dignity.

The special court imposed a fine of INR 1 lakh on the accused. Also ordered to pay 50 percent compensation to the concerned girl. The special court also clarified that the victim girl is also entitled to compensation under the compensation scheme by the District Legal Services Authority for rehabilitation.

The accused himself has three children. Despite this, this case shows that he is not sensitive towards other children. The accused forgot the difference between a child and a woman before his greed. Therefore, he cannot be shown any mercy in punishment, the court said.
