A new local market called Unity Mall will soon be built in Navi Mumbai. The Central Government aims to make this mall a platform for local goods and artefacts.

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, in her union budget 2023–24 announcement, shared the plan for Unity Malls. These malls will support rural artisans, create jobs, and boost the marketability of indigenous goods.

The City and Industrial Development Corporation (CIDCO) is tasked with building the Unity Mall at Ulwe. They have allocated a 5,200-square-meter site in Ulwe's sector 12 for this purpose.

A detailed project report (DPR) was also turned in to the Urban Development Department (UDD). This report outlined the project's cost, which is estimated at INR 195 crore.

CIDCO plans to construct a six-story building with two additional floors in the beginning for parking. The building will house numerous stores, food courts, offices, and spaces for exhibitions and leisure activities.

The design concept, operating rules, social and environmental impact assessments, and design basis reports for structural, fire, and other reasons are all detailed in the DPR that was sent to the UDD. To get back the cost of the land, a proposal was also made to the UDD proposing an increase in Floor Space Index (FSI).

CIDCO intends to hire experts and architects for the construction process. The building's design takes into account the needs of small-time female entrepreneurs. It will include a children's play area and creche too.

The mall will also feature an online and book library dedicated to Indian arts and crafts. A special area for training and skill development is also planned.

Other features of the project include an 80,000 square-foot parking area, a small theatre with 120 seats, and an outdoor amphitheater. The Unity Mall project is still in its early stages. However, it will provide a platform for the state's small-scale manufacturers and artisans.
