Cinema Halls to open in Mumbai soon?
SHARES

After the devastating second wave, Maharashtra has been very cautious with the unlocking process. This move has even invited a lot of criticism. However, now with the positivity rate dipping and the fresh cases also under control, there are chances of things getting back to normal.

On July 26, the Delhi government has allowed cinema halls in the region to open with 50 per cent occupancy. The filmmakers and distributors are now expecting similar approach in Maharashtra as well. It is expected that the Maharashtra government will soon allow people who are fully vaccinated to travel via local trains. It is being contemplated that a similar option should be made available for cinema lovers too.

The film industry has been facing losses for the last year and a half. The coronavirus and the lockdown have resulted in many movies skipping the theoretical release and going straight to OTT. Some movies had even adopted a hybrid model. Salman Khan starter Radhe: Your Most Wanted Bhai was one such movie. The movie had released on ZEE5 and released in theatres worldwide. It had garnered good views on the OTT and decent collections from the middle east market.

It is expected that the cinema halls in Maharastra may open by August 15. However, no official indication in this regard has come from the government as yet.
