Chief Minister Eknath Shinde has announced a fund of 25 crores for the construction of a stadium in the grounds of Dombivli Gymkhana. As there is no well-equipped stadium in Dombivli, sports organisations have to go to stadiums in Thane, Mumbai for various sports competitions including cricket. Players of various sports have expressed their satisfaction as this facility will be available in Dombivli Gymkhana.


Various facilities like badminton, table tennis, jogging track are going to be considered on priority while constructing the stadium. Chief Minister Eknath Shinde had pointed this out earlier when he was the Urban Development Minister. Therefore, while visiting Dombivli Gymkhana, this fund has been announced keeping in mind the previous information, said Parnad Mokashi, Secretary of Dombivli Gymkhana. A detailed plan regarding the construction of the stadium has been submitted to the MIDC department, the controller of this plot.

A new plan has also been filed with some changes in it. Chief Minister Eknath Shinde's announcement of a lump sum fund has paved the way for the construction of the stadium. This work will be started immediately after the final approval of the construction plan, said Gymkhana President Dilip Bhoir.
