On Sunday, April 4, Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray held separate online interactions with the representatives of several industries along with several film and television producers.

According to reports, CM Thackeray asked for the participation of the members in the state government’s move to contain the spread of the coronavirus with regards to the recently imposed restrictions in the city.

Moreover, he urged the industry leaders to only call those workers who are essential for the functioning of the unit and make their stay arrangements within the premises of the industrial unit. Amidst the rise in cases of coronavirus, the CM further stated that the industry should permit its employees to work from home if and when possible adding that it should also take care of its workers who are affected by COVID-19.

Some of the people present in the meeting were Uday Kotak, Ajay Piramal, Sajjan Jindal, Baba Kalyani, Harsh Goenka, Nikhil Meswani, Ashok Hinduja, Niranjan Hiranandani, Apurva Bhattacharya, Harsh G Boman Irani, Rajiv Rastogi, Sanjeev Bajaj, Mandeep More, Ishan Goyal, Amit Kalyani, Apoorva Deshpande, Zafar Khan, Rajendra Gadwe, Anand Gandhi and Siddharth Jain.

On the other hand, earlier on April 1, the Multiplex Association of India (MAI) along with the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) wrote a letter to Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray to rethink another lockdown in Mumbai. According to reports, MAI along with FICCI have stated that a lockdown, even with restrictions, is going to impact the cinema business negatively which is already struggling to grapple with the economic downfall of the same due to the nationwide lockdown imposed last year.
