Maharashtra Chief Minister, Uddhav Thackeray held a review of the work conducted at Sindhudurg’s Chipi Airport on Tuesday.

CM Thackeray held the meeting with senior government officials and DGCA officers.

As per sources quoted by The Indian Express, flight operations at the airport can begin from March 1, 2021, as long as the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) provides the approval.

“Last month, the DGCA had asked for certain compliances to be done to start the operations of the airport. All the compliances have been done by the contractor. If there are any other issues that need to be complied with, it will be done at the earliest,” an official said.

Thackeray is also believed to have conducted a review meeting at the Chipi Airport in December 2020.

Sources further said that although there were plans to inaugurate the airport on January 23, the birth anniversary of the late Shiv Sena founder Balasaheb Thackeray, DGCA officials reportedly asked for some compliances which delayed the plans to March.
