Lohegaon’s Pune Airport is currently operating on defence land owned by the Indian Air Force while repairs in the area started on the 26th of October last year.
“Keeping in mind, growing traffic from Pune, AAI's Pune Airport has started working on a Multi-Level Car Parking (MLCP) including 2 basements & rising three levels above the ground floor. This will not only add to airport facilities but will aid travellers' convenience,” the Airports Authority of India (AAI) had said last year.
It’s worth noting that flights at Pune Airport currently operate only during the day while the repair work is carried out between 8 PM and 8 AM.

The Airport Director said that every night flight service including takeoffs and landings have been spread out throughout the day to accommodate the repairs. This means that around 10 flight services that are originally scheduled for the night will be carried out during the day time.
Pune Airport operates both domestic and international flights from its terminals, particularly to regions of West Asia. Officials say that the increase in flight traffic has forced them to construct a new terminal while also expanding the runway.
Prior to the national lockdown in March last year, Pune Airport only had one runway spanning 2,530 meters while handling around 170 flights on average each day.
