As per reports, international passengers landing at the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA) will have to wait for just 13 minutes now instead of eight hours in order to receive their RT-PCR test reports.
The CSMIA back on December 15, introduced an innovative technology, in compliance with the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) standards which is to be available for all international passengers at the airport.
According to a report in Hindustan Times, the 24X7 testing facility that is located at Level 2 (arrivals) near exit Gate B, CSMIA has become the first airport to adopt the express test method by Abbott ‘ID Now’. CSMIA officials said the express test is available at ₹4,500 that wants to provide passengers with quick and accurate diagnosis in 13 minutes.
Although, commuters can continue to opt for regular RT-PCR tests, which take around six to eight hours for the result.
Meanwhile, earlier on December 29, India records six cases of the coronavirus of the mutant strain of COVID-19 which is 70 per cent more transmissible and was first reported in the United Kingdom. All six patients recently returned from Britain. Moreover, according to a government statement, three samples in NIMHANS of Bengaluru, two in CCMB, Hyderabad and one in NIV, Pune have been detected out of all the samples tested.
In view of the situation, all the infected patients are residing in single-room isolation in designated health care facilities by respective state governments in the country. On the other hand, the close contacts of the patients have also been put under quarantine.
