Supply of piped natural gas in the areas of Borivali, Kandivali, Dahisar, Mira road and Bhayander has been disrupted due to a pipeline burst in Malad. A Mahanagar Gas Limited (MGL) pipe was damaged during excavation work of the ongoing Metro project.

CNG stations in the area have been impacted and most of them have had to put up their shutters.

The upshot is that autorickshaw drivers in the suburbs are unable to get their CNG refill, leading to huge queues outside pumps that are still functioning.

Between Malad and Bhayander, there are 18 gas stations which have been closed from Wednesday.
