On Monday, January 17, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) stated that a state-level sub-committee of medical experts has ruled that a 15-year-old girl, about whom a social media post went viral alleging that she succumbed due to the COVID-19 vaccination, did not die due to the vaccination, reports stated.

According to accounts, the BMC elaborated on how January 14, a man spread false news on the social media platform, Twitter that the girl had died owing to vaccination. Adding that post this news, the case was comprehensively probed wherein the committee gave an opinion that the death was not because of the vaccination.

Based on narratives, an urgent meeting was conducted on Monday to review the death by a 15-member sub-committee of medical experts. The committee found that the girl was consulting a doctor for the last two months for anxiety issues.

However, the committee could not reach a conclusion on what she died of since an autopsy was not conducted, remarked Dr Mangala Gomare, BMC executive health officer, stated accounts. Gomare added that they have written to the doctor who certified the teenager's death and the parents have also said that the death wasn't owing to vaccination but natural causes. It has been reported that the BMC is now tracing the doctor who made the post on Twitter.
