The residents of Churchgate, J D Tata Road, Moti Mahal, Ravindra Mansion, Lotus Court have been receiving contaminated water since Wednesday. Residents are complaining of irritation and itching due to contaminated water. They believe that Mumbai Metro Rail Corporation (MMRC) is responsible for the same as they have been digging a pit which caused a crack to the drinking water pipeline. This led to water getting mixed with a chemical.

Motilal Mahal resident Ketan Mehta alleged that despite assurance MMRC did not take care while digging. On Wednesday, when the residents went to MMRC officials, complaining about the water, they blamed BMC for the same.

Likewise, the BMC workers inspected the area and asked MMRC to do the repairs but nothing has been done so far, informed residents.

Both the BMC and MMRC are busy passing the buck overlooking resident’s woes. Now, residents are relying on tankers and Bisleri water for drinking purpose. When Mumbai Live tried speaking to MMRCL official, no one responded.

We plead CM that he should look into this matter where MMRCL has been digging roads where 100 to 150-year-old buildings stand. No sooner, these very buildings will fall due to the digging work,” Jamshed Sukhadwala, resident.

First the unbearable noise and now contaminated water. There is just no end to our sufferings. This work will continue for coming years. We hope that negligence of MMRCL will not cost anyone’s life,” Ketan Mehta, resident.
