Indrayani Complex on J. K. Marg in Dadar Plaza has been receiving contaminated water supply for the past one and a half months, as per the report by Indian Express. Despite repeated complaints to the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), the residents are getting frustrated as the problem persists.
The BMC supplies 4,000 million liters of water to Mumbai every day. The water is purified according to standards certified by the World Health Organization and ISO. Overall, the municipal corporation claims to provide sterile, clean and pure water to Mumbaikars. However, some areas in Dadar have been receiving contaminated water supply for the past several months. The Indrayani complex, located a short distance from the G North section of the Municipal Corporation, has been receiving contaminated water for the past one and a half months.
The Indrayani complex has four buildings and about 123 flats. Residents said that many are suffering from fever and cough due to the contaminated water supply. The building is supplied with water for three hours every day. However, the first half hour has to be cut off as the water is extremely dirty. As a result, the residents of the building have to struggle for drinking water.
After a complaint was filed with the civic body, municipal employees visited the society and inspected it. However, the concrete reason for this is not yet clear and the municipality is still investigating the water connections. Residents are demanding that the BMC immediately conduct a technical inspection and come up with a permanent solution to resolve the water issue.
Noting that the water quality is not improving despite repeated complaints to the Municipal Corporation, MLA Mahesh Sawant also conducted a physical inspection. He also ordered the municipal authorities to resolve the water problem. However, even after that, there has been no improvement, the residents alleged.
