Over the last few weeks, Ulhasnagar had an exponential increase in the number of coronavirus (COVID-19) cases. However, reports released recently show that the growth rate and COVID-19 spread in Ulhasnagar and nearby areas have now reduced, and the situation seems to be under control.

As of August 3, 2020, 54 new coronavirus (COVID-19) patients were reported in Ulhasnagar taking the tally to 7183. Further, 166 deaths were reported due to the infection, and more than 5800 patients have been discharged after treatment. Less than 1,000 cases are said to be active in the locality.

Observing this change, the Ulhasnagar Municipal Corporation (UMC) has released an order allowing all shops in the area to open in the odd/even (P-1 and P-2) manner from 9 am to 7 pm. It is said that the decision was also taken, in view of the upcoming festivals, as it would provide a big relief to the traders which would also give them an extension of 2 hours per day. But this method cannot be changed for some more days. Moreover, lockdown will be applicable until August 31, across all Containment zones, as suggested by the state government.

The commissioner of the region has also allowed all the factories to resume work, however, strict actions will be taken against those who violate the rules. While social distancing is important, wearing masks at all times is mandatory.

As of August 3, 2020, Thane district reported a total of 97,343 cases, out of which 32,191 were active. The data also showed that 62,448 cases had recovered from the treatment and 2,703 died due to coronavirus infection. The tally in Maharashtra has crossed the 4.5-lakh mark with more than 2.8 lakh patients discharged.
