Coronavirus testing facility improved in Mumbai Hospitals

As per reports, a new coronavirus testing device has been introduced at Mumbai's Kasturba hospital, KEM and Cooper hospital, which can now test upto 900 sampels a day.

The number of coronavirus cases in the city of Mumbai has been increasing and with the lockdown restrictions being lifted people across the city are showing Keen interest in getting tested for COVID-19. In the view of this increase and keeping in mind that the treatment is provided to the people in need, the government of Maharashtra has set up several quarantine centres at both private and municipal hospitals. 

However, some people are finding expensive to pay for Coronavirus test at private Laboratories and emphasizing on the same, Maharashtra government is now planning to increase the number of testing machines available at Municipal laboratories.

As per reports, a new coronavirus testing device has been introduced at Mumbai's Kasturba hospital, which has increased the testing capacity to approximately 300 to  800 tests per day. The device called the rtPCR is available at Kasturba's central laboratory and officials have recently purchased the same to ensure more tests are performed. It is also said that the team at Cooper Hospital is also looking at the possibility of purchasing this new equipment. The device is also available at the KEM Hospital will also be operating soon.

Besides the unavailability of equipment, officials also understood that there is no manpower available to collect samples or technicians to test and prepare reports. 

A few days back Mumbai is Metropolis hospital was banned from conducting tests. To provide a better service, it is said that the Municipal Corporation has entered an agreement with three other private hospitals where these three laboratories will be able to conduct more number of tests per day. 

Data released by the State Health Department on June 15th, 2020, stated that the coronavirus cases in Maharashtra has touched the 1,10,000-mark. On the other hand, Mumbai has around 59,293 coronavirus cases and the tally and Pune has crossed the 10,000-mark.
