Given that we are still in the middle of the pandemic, a plan has been laid out to open Rani Baug. Some ground rules have been formed to ensure that social distancing norms are adhered here even now.

The Byculla zoo is a popular destination and the arrivals of penguins had helped in attracting a lot more tourists. About 5,000 visitors visit Rani Baug every day, while 10-15,000 on weekends and holidays. Earlier the daily income ranged from Rs 15,000 to Rs. 20,000, which further increased to Rs. 1 lakh to Rs. 6 lakhs. But due to the lockdown, Rani Baug had been facing a revenue loss of Rs. 1.5 lakh every day.
