Amid the coronavirus outbreak, the Maharashtra government has decided to initiate an awareness campaign in print and electronic media to inform people about the deadly coronavirus or COVID-19.
Maharashtra government has made an allocation of ₹3.15 crore for the awareness campaign, the Free Press Journal reported. The awareness campaign will also be carried out via messages on posters and hoardings.
The state health department on Tuesday issued a notification to run a special train which will have the message on the measures to tackle coronavirus painted. The Uddhav Thackeray government has also decided that the train will carry out several trips across Maharashtra.
The Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) government has cleared the media plan for the awareness campaign which has been prepared by the Directorate of Information and Public Relations. This is being done to curb the increasing cases of novel coronavirus or COVID-19. The key focus of this campaign is focusing on health education and awareness.
According to the media plan, the government is likely to spend ₹1 crore on advertisements in A grade newspapers, ₹1 crore on 11 private TV entertainment and news channels for a 60-second advertisement.
Moreover, the state government will spend ₹17.50 lakh advertising on 55 private radio channels and the same amount will be spent on advertisements which will be aired on Akashwani at 7:10 AM and 7:00 PM during news mid-break.
₹12 lakh have been allocated to be spent on effectively using social media including Facebook, Twitter and SMS to create awareness regarding the deadly coronavirus.
Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray had said that the state government will put up hoardings and posters across the state to make citizens aware of the measures to tackle the spread of coronavirus.
Along with this, the government advertisements will be displayed on state transport buses, public places including bus stands and railway stations.
