With the COVID-19 cases rising in India, the authorities are taking all necessary steps to contain the spread of the novel coronavirus and misinformation around the pandemic. In order to create awareness about the novel virus outbreak, Indian Railways’ Central Railway zone has recently vinyl wrapped a 12 coach local train with an awareness message.

The move by the rail division is aimed at clearing the misconceptions and spreading awareness among its passengers in regards to the various precautions that one need to take to be safe from the coronavirus.

Central Railway in a statement said, “It is move to spread the awareness message to sensitise Mumbaikars to prevent coronavirus infection".

Currently, Central Railway has vinyl wrapped one rake of the Mumbai local train with awareness message and it has been put into service today.

The Central Railway zone also announced that five more rakes of local trains will be put in to the operations with awareness message in the coming days.

In the meantime, the rail corporation has also decided to cancel some popular trains originating from Mumbai, Pune, Nagpur, Bhusawal and Nagpur. The cancellation has been announced owing to the risks of coronavirus outbreak. Some of the trains were cancelled due to low occupancy. The cancellation will come into effect from Wednesday.

Some of the trains cancelled by the CR included Mumbai-Pune Deccan Express, Mumbai-Nagpur Nandigram Express, Mumbai-Pune Pragati Express, CSMT-Nizamuddin Rajdhani Express, LTT- Nizamabad Express and Bhusaval-Nagpur Express.

On Tuesday, Maharashtra recorded its first death due to coronavirus as a 65-year-old passed away at Kasturba Hospital, Chinchpokali. Identified as a businessman, the patient had returned from Dubai, and was earlier admitted at Hinduja Hospital and later shifted to Kasturba for further treatment upon testing positive. 

Officials state that the patient's medical history also mentioned diabetes and hypertension, due to which his immunity was low. Hence his recovery was not as quick as expected.
