Mumbai reports 1,120 fresh COVID-19 cases, 33 deaths in one day

Nearly 2,25,526 coronavirus patients have recovered in Mumbai till now while the total number of COVID-19 cases remain 2,55,360.

The number of coronavirus cases in Maharastra and Mumbai has been increasing on a daily basis. This has become a major concern for the state administration. On Thursday, 156 people died due to the coronavirus in the state. 

Meanwhile, the administration in Mumbai has managed to gain some control over the COVID-19 deaths and increasing cases. 

Despite increasing coronavirus cases, the Maharashtra government has recently written to the railway administration to allow general passengers to travel in local trains as part of the ‘Mission Begin Again’. However, the central and western railway have expressed their concern over the practice of social distancing.  

The rise in COVID-19 cases has been reported after the government eased lockdown restrictions. As per the data released by the public health department, on Thursday, 33 COVID-19 patients died in Mumbai. 

The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) is making efforts to control the number of rising coronavirus cases in Mumbai. However, 1,120 fresh COVID-19 cases were reported in the city. 

Nearly 2,25,526 coronavirus patients have recovered in Mumbai till now while the total number of COVID-19 cases remain 2,55,360. As of October 29, the active cases in Mumbai are 19,082 and the death toll in the metropolitan has reached 10,229. 

On Thursday, Maharashtra reported 5,902 new coronavirus patients and 156 deaths. However, nearly 7,883 coronavirus patients recovered and were discharged from the hospital. 

14,94,809 coronavirus patients in the state have recovered until now. The recovery rate in Maharashtra stands at 86.5 per cent. Out of 88,37,133 laboratory samples, 16,66,668 have been tested positive (18.86%) for COVID- 19 until today.   

Currently, 25,33,687 people are under home quarantine and 12,690 people are in institutional quarantine.
