Maharashtra records more than 23,000 coronavirus cases in one day; state tally crosses the 9-lakh mark

Coronavirus cases are said to be under control in Mumbai and a few other cities. The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), on Sunday, recorded 1,910 new cases with 37 deaths.

The number of coronavirus cases in Maharashtra saw a significant increase on September 6, 2020, and with this, the state observed the highest-single day jump. According to the data released by the state health department on Sunday, Maharashtra had 23,350 new COVID-19 patients.

CM Uddhav Thackeray, at the end of August 2020, announced the Unlock 4.0 guidelines for the state, and with many services resuming again, this increasing pattern has raised concerns for the officials. Shops, hotels, and some more services have begun their work in full force, and with a rapid increase in the numbers, officials will have to issue strict guidelines to curb the spread of the virus.

On Sunday, September 6, 2020, 328 corona patients died due to the infection, taking the tally to 26,604 people. The total number of coronavirus cases in the state has risen to 9,07,212, of which 6,44,400 people have been discharged so far, and 2,35,857 patients have been receiving treatment for the infection. The Case fatality rate in the state currently stands at 2.93 per cent.

Meanwhile, the coronavirus cases are said to be under control in Mumbai and a few other cities. The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), on Sunday, recorded 1,910 new cases with 37 deaths. Furthermore, 911 people were treated in Mumbai and discharged from the hospital. The total number of coronavirus cases in the city has now reached 1,55,622, with 7869 deaths. Out of the total cases, 23,930 are active and 1,23,478 have recovered.

Officials stated that a total of 46,47,742 laboratory samples have been tested, out of which 9,07,212 have been positive (19.52 per cent). Currently, 14,96,072 people are under home quarantine and 38,509 people have been admitted under institutional quarantine, keeping the guidelines in mind.
