The BMC corporators have now started demanding that builders should not be given permissions for water and electricity connections as cases of cheating of flat owners are increasing in the city.
There are many buildings in the city which are not being issued the Occupation Certificates (OCs) and yet flats in these buildings are being sold by the builders. The builders are bounded to obtain the OC from the civic body after following the prescribed procedure but many of them do not qualify for it. Still, these builders sell flats these flats to home seekers and after a while the builder flees without obtaining the OC. The people living in such buildings face many difficulties and cannot get the civic facilities. The BMC provides water connections to these buildings out of humanitarian approach but at double the cost. These people have to pay double rate for water connections.
Taking this into consideration, MNS group leader Dilip Lande has put up a proposal and demanded that the BMC administration should not issue the OC till water and electricity connections are not provided in the building. The proposal is likely to be discussed in the General Body in the month of May.
