On Saturday, October 3, with the addition of 866 fresh cases of the coronavirus, the COVID-19 tally in Nashik reached 79,280.

Moreover, 17 people succumbed to the disease taking the death toll in the district to 1,427. However, 364 patients were discharged in the day, taking the number of recoveries to 68,409.

Meanwhile, in the last 24 hours, Maharashtra has recorded 14,348 fresh cases of the coronavirus taking the COVID-19 tally in the state to 14,30,861, as per the state health department. However, the number of recovered patients rose by 16,835, taking the tally of recovered cases to 11,34,555. The recovery rate in the state has touched 79.3 per cent, as against the national average of 83.84 per cent.

On the other hand, in Mumbai, the civic body has increased its containment zones to 674, while over 9280 buildings and chawls have been sealed and are being self-managed by the housing societies. Moreover, as per recent reports from the BMC, Borivali has been witnessed as the most affected place with the doubling rate at 46 days whereas Sandhurst Road is the least affected ward with a doubling rate at 99 days.

Earlier on Wednesday, the government extended the coronavirus-induced lockdown till October 31, however, added that hotels, restaurants and bars will be allowed to operate from October 5 with restricted capacity.
