The official Twitter handle of the Directorate General of Information and Public Relations took to social media to inform that Rajesh Tope, the Health Minister of Maharashtra, has created six more posts in the health department in order to deal with the pandemic effectively.

Tope has created six more posts, which also includes the new post of the Director of Health (Urban) in the cabinet meeting to make the healthcare structure in the urban areas more effective in the background of the coronavirus.
Moreover, strengthening of primary health services in the urban areas, coordination with the local self-governing bodies will be maintained in order to achieve effective results as per the Health Minister.
Tope speaking to the media had earlier stated that the state government has decided to fill all 17,000 vacancies in state-run hospitals and primary health centres, adding that it plans to constitute a central authority system to purchase medicines for them.
The COVID vacancies that are to be filled are of doctors, nurses and other health workers at the village level. Moreover, modelling on the Tamil Nadu Medical Services Corporation, the central authority, for the procurement of medicines will be based.
Meanwhile, Maharashtra in the last 24 hours, has clocked 14,718 fresh cases of the coronavirus, propelling the state's COVID-19 tally to 7,33,568.
