A crocodile was spotted in the swampy pond area behind the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) head office building in Belapur. The crocodile has been seen in a lake near Seawoods creek area for the last two days. Usually, the crocodiles are seen in Powai and Vihar lakes in Mumbai region.

A short video clip of the crocodile taken by a local fisherman has gone viral.

The local fishermen have urged forest officials to relocate the crocodile as it poses danger for anyone who is around the lake.

Nagesh Patil, a local fisherman living in Belapur village, said, "A visual evidence has been sent to the forest authorities so that they can remove the crocodile from here."

"The crocodile seems to be surviving in that marshy area as there are enough fish and crabs. It is likely that during heavy rains during high tide, it entered this site. It is also possible that some miscreants left it there,” said Pawan Sharma, Honorary Wildlife Warden of the State Forest Department, Reckoning Association for Wildlife Welfare (RAW).
