In order to deal with emergency situations or save one’s life during times of calamity, several schools have taught various techniques regarding self-defence to their students.

An 11-year-old Zen Sadavarte used her wits and applied these techniques which were taught to her and eventually saved lives of 17 residents of the Crystal Tower. Zen is a student of the Don Bosco International School and studies in the sixth grade.

A fire suddenly broke out on the 12th floor of Crystal Tower during the morning hours on Wednesday. When Zen realized that her building was on fire, she started tearing the clothes in her house and dipped them in water. After which she gave the wet clothes to her family members and told them to use these wet clothes to cover their faces and breathe through them. Similarly, she also told them to apply water to their hair to avoid the fire being caught in their hair.

The residents followed her instructions and the 17 of them safely escaped from the building. Had they not listened to Zen, they might have faced a problem in breathing through the smoke emitted by fire resulting in unconsciousness or even death.

Kudos to this young girl for using her presence of mind and doing her best to save lives!
