As Diwali is around the corner, a curfew has been imposed in Dombivli (Dombivali) to avoid the spread of coronavirus outbreak. On the day of the festivity, every year, a big procession takes place on Phadke Road in Dombivli (East), said police officials.

The Ram Nagar police officials have issued the guidelines stating that strict action will be taken against those violating the orders. The police also appealed the citizens to not overcrowd the premises in and around Ganesh Mandir.

On Diwali, which falls on November 14 this year, the youth gathers to celebrate and enjoy the festival on Phadke Street. This tradition has been followed for several years now. Meanwhile, breaking the tradition this year senior Inspector Sachin Sandbhor, Ramnagar Police Station, Ward area officer Rajesh Sawant, F- Ward, and Superintendent Sanjay Sable have been instructed to manage the crowds in the Phadke area due to coronavirus.

As this time, the general public is not allowed to travel in the local trains, the youngsters are likely to gather on the streets of Phadke Road with two-wheelers and four-wheelers. Hence, there could be possibilities of traffic jam in this area, said police official.

In order to prevent this, the roads connecting to Phadke Road will be blocked with bamboo barriers. All roads including Phadke Road, Nehru Road, Tilak Road, Railway Parallel Road have also been blocked during Diwali and a curfew has also been declared in the area.
