According to sources, the Dadar traders' union has opposed the state government's two-day mini-lockdown from Friday night to Monday morning in the area.

All shops in the Dadar area have been closed on Tuesday, April 6, morning. The traders’ union have stated that the rules issued regarding the lockdown are confusing. Moreover, due to a lack of proper coordination in these regulations, an atmosphere of confusion has been created.

For the past couple of days, pictures of huge crowds gathered at Mumbai’s Dadar vegetable market has been making news. This comes at a time when the city has been posting an alarming spike in coronavirus cases. Even on Sunday, April 4, Mumbai recorded over 11,000 cases. In view of the situation, earlier on April 4, Guardian Minister Aslam Shaikh visited the Dadar vegetable market to inspect the situation and to interact with vegetable sellers.

However, a massive crowd was again seen at the Dadar vegetable market in Mumbai on Monday morning, April 5. The people in the market were seen flouting social distancing norms and many were seen without face masks.

Meanwhile, on Monday, April 5, Maharashtra recorded 47,288 novel coronavirus cases taking the state's COVID-19 tally to 30,57,855. At present, there are 4,51,375 active cases in the state. With 26,252 COVID-19 patients discharged in the day, the number of recovered soared to 25,49,075. On the other hand, with Mumbai recording 9,857 cases in the day, it remains a major novel coronavirus hotspot in the state.
