In the last 12 days, 210 citizens across Mumbai have reportedly been diagnosed with malaria. Moreover, a total of 85 dengue patients have been found.

Apart from malaria and dengue, leptospirosis, gastroenteritis, jaundice and swine flu have also been reported in Mumbai. While Mumbai’s civic body, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) is taking measures against the outbreak of coronavirus, dengue, malaria and other rainy season diseases have been on the rise since the month of July.

Fortunately, no deaths have been reported so far in September due to rain-related illnesses. Since January 2021, 305 dengue patients have been detected in Mumbai. Last year, 129 dengue patients were found in Mumbai.

On the other hand, the BMC had earlier confirmed 85 dengue cases in September. It is interesting to note that these numbers don't constitute suspected hospitalization or instances that haven’t received a lab-approved diagnosis. With 12 dengue cases in June, in July the number rose to 28 and then surged to 144 in August. Till now, no deaths have been reported in Mumbai. 305 dengue cases were reported in January in Mumbai. Similarly, 129 and 920 cases were reported in 2020 and 2019 respectively.
