Mumbai's BEST has been suffering losses due to the rise in the diesel prices, which are over Rs. 900 Cr. The department has now suffered an additional loss of ₹25 Cr, in this financial year. BEST committee member Bhushan Patil of the Congress has stated that the state government should reduce taxes on diesel, which may help bring down losses.

Shiv Sena’s Anil Kokil too supported Patil, adding that BEST is already facing losses but a surcharge waiver will help stem the loss to some extent.

The state government should either waive off CESS or lower the rate, only then we will be able to recover our losses. We will be writing the same to Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis,” Kokil said.
