Direct Mumbai-Pune Flight to Commence from March 26: Check Prices Here

In a significant development, Air India is all set to launch a direct flight between Pune and Mumbai from Sunday, March 26.

This is the first direct flight available right now between the two cosmopolitan cities.

The flight will take off six times a week. The Air India flight will leave Mumbai at 9:45 am and land in Pune at 10:45 am. The return flight will depart at 11:20 am and land in Mumbai at 12:20 pm. The flight will be making a round trip between the two cities every day, except Saturday.

Mumbai and Pune are the busiest airport in Maharashtra. However, there are no direct flights connecting both the cities through air travel. 

Notably, connecting flights do operate between Mumbai and Pune. But these take over four hours to reach their destination. This route will be the shortest narrow body route in the country.

Now, Air India will become the first airline in a long while to start a direct flight service between the two cities, using a narrow body airplane. With this, the travellers will have an additional option other than trains, buses and private vehicles.

In an official statement, Air India airlines stated that it will deploy its smallest plane in the carrier’s fleet, the Airbus A319.

The distance between Mumbai-Pune is nearly 120 km via air route and 150 km apart via road network.

The Pune Airport, situated in Lohegaon is co-operated by AAI with the Indian Air Force and houses two Sukhoi Su-30 MKI Squadrons.

Currently, travellers who need to catch the international flights travel by road or train to Mumbai from Pune. With Air India starting a direct flight service, travellers who flying international from Mumbai Airport can catch a flight from Pune to Mumbai and then transfer to international flight. This will prove to be hassle-free commute and provide last-mile connectivity.

What are the Prices?

Air India is offering a return airfare of INR 5,000 for the Mumbai-Pune route, if booked in advance. 

The economy tickets are priced around INR 2,353 and the business class tickets cost INR 18,467 per seat.
