The Thane Municipal Commissioner (TMC) Saurabh Rao directed the pre-monsoon review meeting to complete the tender process of drain cleaning and start the drain cleaning works in the municipal area from April 15. Along with this, the commissioner also gave instructions to prepare an action plan for evacuation of high-risk buildings.


A meeting was held in the municipal commissioner's hall to review pre-monsoon preparations. In this meeting, Additional Commissioner (1) Sandeep Malvi, Additional Commissioner (2) Prashant Rode, City Engineer Prashant Sonagra, all Deputy Commissioners, all Assistant Commissioners, senior officers were present. Deputy Commissioner (Disaster Management) G G Godepure gave a presentation about the responsibilities of various departments of the Municipal Corporation during monsoon and the arrangements made for it.


In this meeting, the tender process for drainage has not been completed. This process should be completed immediately by taking appropriate action. Also, Commissioner Rao directed that drain cleaning should actually be started from April 15.


At the same time, Rao also clarified that 86 extremely dangerous buildings in the municipal area should be reviewed immediately. If there is any dispute that the building is hazardous and it is to be audited by a third party, that too should be done immediately. If residents are living in extremely dangerous buildings, efforts should be made to evacuate those buildings now. Rao also said that separate measures should be taken for each building keeping in view of humanity.

Commissioner Rao also suggested that public awareness should be created regarding extremely dangerous buildings, if the building is dilapidated, the information should be conveyed to the citizens about the symptoms that can be seen in it. In this meeting, the Commissioner also took information about what measures are being taken to ensure that water does not accumulate in low-lying areas like Vandana ST stand and to drain it quickly.


Inspection done by TDRF

Commissioner Rao also visited TDRF camp at Hajuri. The commissioner inspected the equipment and uniforms of this action force. He also learned about the experience of this action force in various missions. The commissioner also told the team that if any other equipment and training is required, the demand should be registered immediately.


Use of data centre should be increased

The commissioner also visited the updated data centre created through Smart City. Therefore, by increasing its use, the commissioner gave instructions for planning so that the disaster management centre can get the alert of any emergency situation quickly. During this visit, Additional Commissioner (1) Sandeep Malvi, Additional Commissioner (2) Prashant Rode, Deputy Commissioner (Disaster Management) G G Godepure, Disaster Management Officer Yasin Tadvi were present.
