The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corproation (BMC) on Tuesday, August 24, 2021, said that all the wards in the city, except Ward F-North and F-South, will face 10 per cent water cut for 24 hours on Thursday and Friday, August 26 and August 27, 2021. The civic body will reduce the supply of water from 8:00 am on Thursday to 8:00 am on Friday, August 27.

This decision has been taken keeping the maintenance work in mind whereby the concerned department will be installing a 900 mm diameter sluice valve at Mumbai 3A pumping station located in BMC's Panjrapur complex. The statement said, “This will result in less inflow to Bhandup Water Complex by 10 per cent and therefore 10 per cent water cut will be imposed in western suburbs, Island city (excluding F/South and F/North wards) and N and L wards in eastern suburbs."

Officials said that the work is being conducted to streamline the water supply in the city of Mumbai and hence the department has decided to install a new lifting set with a 80 MLD capacity per day.

Considering this, the department has asked all the citizens to carefully use the water during the period.
