The Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL) has decided to cut off the power supply for six hours in several parts of Kalyan and Dombivli today, April 20.

Electricity will remain suspended till 4 pm due to maintenance work. However, the electricity will be restored by this time only if the work is completed, the MSEDCL said in an official release.

Areas in Dombivli where power supply will be suspended include Ramnagar, Kellar road, Rajaji Road, Kranti Nagar, Kelkar Road, Madrasi Mandir, Mahatre Nagar, Aayre road, Dutt Nagar, Shiv Mandir road, DNC college area, Nandivali road, Tukaram Nagar and Sudamawadi area.

The Kalyan East area includes - Ajdepada, Sagarli, MIDC colony, Indira Nagar, Trimurti Nagar, Patharli and Gymkhana road.

MSEDCL has appealed to the electricity consumers of the concerned area to take cognizance of this and cooperate.

This comes at a time when MSEDCL is resorting to cutting the electric supply even as the temperature is soaring amid coal crisis situation in the state.

Accordingly, the state-run power distribution company MahaVitaran has launched load shedding of 1,375 mw which is up to three hours in almost all districts excluding MumbaiThane, Mulund, Bhandup, Navi Mumbai and Pune. The urban areas will not get affected, but the rural areas will.

Meanwhile, last month, on March 29, the citizens of Thane city faced a power cut for more than 12 hours as the workers of state power companies such as MSEDCL, MahaGenco and MahaTransco went on strike.
