The economy of the nation has been hit hard by the ongoing coronavirus crisis. The business sector in particular has witnessed devastating outcomes during the lockdown. While some businesses are trying to survive with the last resources they have left, some have completely been shut down. In view of this unfortunate situation, the Panvel Municipal Corporation (PM) has arranged to provide small loans of up to ₹10,000 to the eligible street vendors in the region.

The local administration has encouraged all the street vendors of their region to resume their businesses and has assured to provide loans to the eligible ones. The civic body of Panvel will provide this sum of loan under the Prime Minister Street Vendor Self-Reliant Fund Scheme, which was launched by the Central Government. The main objective of this scheme is to reduce the damage caused by the coronavirus pandemic on the businesses of the street vendors and help them get back on their feet. 

Panvel recorded 157 new COVID-19 cases on Sunday, taking the total number of positive cases to 5,736. So far, at least 4,175 people have recovered in the region, while 50 patients have succumbed to the deadly virus. According to the health department, the coronavirus tally in Maharashtra has reached 3,75,799 with the death toll of 13,656 across the state.
