Based on a circular released by the Government of Maharashtra, full vaccination is compulsory in order to travel in Mumbai local trains for essential as well as government workers.

Presently, those in the essential service section were given passes whilst not taking into account their vaccination status so as to ensure that the essential services given to people aren’t affected.

But the government now believes that a significant period of time has passed since the vaccination activity commenced in the city. In addition to this, the momentum with which it is being undertaken, coupled with the volume of vaccines available in both sections, the aforementioned decision was taken.

The Maharashtra government in the order dated October 8, 2021, had defined a vaccinated individual as someone who is fully vaccinated and has completed 14 days since. Additionally, those who cannot vaccinate themselves owing to medical issues or age restrictions are also included.

The State Disaster Management Authority proclaimed the compulsory necessity of being fully inoculated to travel in local trains and other reasons is extended to those in the essential service and government. Moreover, the universal pass that will be mandatory to travel will be accorded to only those who will be in the said category.

Moreover, passes for train travel of any kind are permitted to be given to the travellers who are under the above-given definition.
