Mumbai: Examination of applications for mill workers housing must complete in three months

The investigation of the applications received for the accommodation of the mill workers should be completed in three months. There is a need to increase the housing stock to provide housing in Mumbai. Chief Minister Eknath Shinde assured that the houses in Ranjgoli, Kon-Panvel be repaired immediately and the lottery process for 5000 houses be completed.


Chief Minister Eknath Shinde said that "Government has a sincere stand that the mill workers should get their rightful houses to their heirs, for this the process has been expedited and in the last few months, the keys of the flats have been distributed to the mill workers in two phases."  So far, about 1 lakh 74 thousand applications have been submitted to MHADA by the mill workers and their heirs. Instructions have been given to speed up its investigation process and to complete this investigation process in three months so that the number of eligible and ineligible can be determined.


The Chief Minister said that the repair of houses in Kon-Panvel should be completed immediately and the repair of flats in Thane Rajgoli should be done immediately by the MMRDA so that a lottery of five thousand houses could be drawn there. The Chief Minister said that once the process of allotment of houses in Kon-Panvel is completed, the process of giving flat keys to labourers will also be completed by Dussehra.

At this time, instructions were given to the officials of Mumbai Municipal Corporation that the work of the Textile Mill Museum in Mumbai should be started immediately. The Chief Minister directed that efforts should be made to provide work to the sons and daughters of the mill workers here.


The District Collector has informed that about 21 hectares of land is available in Kalyan taluka for providing houses to the mill workers in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region and the Chief Minister has directed to submit the proposal to the cabinet immediately.
